What is included in a complete set?
Standard American sets include 166 tiles (or 160 in select collections), 4 racks and pushers, dice, wind indicators and a case or bag — confirmed item-by-item at quotation.
Can we customize tiles with our own artwork?
Yes. Laser engraving and UV printing both accept custom artwork; we adapt files for production and confirm on a physical sample.
What is the minimum order?
Custom sets start at 50 sets. Fully bespoke packaging has higher minimums, quoted per project.
How long does production take?
Typically around 30 days after sample approval, depending on customization level and season.
Do you ship internationally?
We export to North America, Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia with full documentation.
Can we order samples first?

What is American Mahjong?
American Mahjong (also called American Mah Jongg) is a tile-based game adapted from Chinese Mahjong, played with 166 tiles and governed by the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) annual card. It is typically played by 4 players and is especially popular in the United States among social groups and families.
What's the difference between American and Chinese Mahjong?
American Mahjong uses 166 tiles (vs. 144 in Chinese Mahjong), includes joker tiles, and requires an annual NMJL scorecard to play. The rules, scoring, and tile sets are distinct — American sets are not interchangeable with Chinese or Japanese (Riichi) sets.
What comes in an American Mahjong set?
A standard American Mahjong set includes 166 tiles (152 standard + 8 jokers + 6 blank tiles), 4 racks, pushers, dice, and a wind indicator. Complete sets also come in a premium carrying case.
What materials are American Mahjong tiles made from?
Tiles are commonly made from melamine (durable, matte finish) or acrylic (glossy, premium look). We offer both — melamine for everyday durability and hand-polished acrylic for a boutique table presence.
Do I need an NMJL card to play American Mahjong?
Yes. The National Mah Jongg League publishes a new scorecard each year with updated winning hands. The card is purchased separately from the NMJL website and is required to play by standard American rules.
What size are American Mahjong tiles?
Standard American Mahjong tiles are slightly larger than Chinese tiles, making them easier to handle. Our tiles are produced to the NMJL standard size for compatibility with all American Mahjong racks.
Is American mahjong the same as Jewish mahjong?
Yes, essentially. What many people call "Jewish mahjong" is American mahjong played with NMJL rules. The game became hugely popular in Jewish communities after 1937, and the terms are often used interchangeably — it is the same beloved game.
Where did American mahjong come from?
Mahjong arrived in America from China in the 1920s and became a national craze. In 1937, the National Mah Jongg League was founded in New York to standardize the rules, adding jokers, racks, the Charleston, and the annual card — creating the distinct American game played by millions today.
